There's Somethin' about Sayin' Something...

To My Youngers,

Its odd when you're part of the start of a saying... now I'm not talking about anything major here, no "Cool" or "lol" or anything, but starting a saying that becomes well-used amongst friends (or here is the better part- acquaintances, or better yet the friends of acquaintances!!!) is pretty exciting- albeit in a super lame kind of way.... but still exciting!

There was the one back in university where "I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket" became 'I couldn't care two and a bucket" which survives to this day as an all-purpose space filler (i.e. "Is it better than two and a bucket?")... There's the stolen and enlarged upon "Homedog Skillet?" and "wha haaaaapen?" but my most recent is a masterpiece of randomness and tenuous connections:

"Sweatin' Like Tall Josh"

Basically there's this guy, his name is Josh and he is tall. Hence Tall Josh. Now Tall Josh is a pretty awesome dude,  he is cheerful, likes singing while he works, is clever and entertaining and- for the purposes of helping to explain things here- sweats like a waterfall. So when you're sweating excessively just because it is just that hot, you're- that's right- Sweatin' Like Tall Josh.

Alright, so far makes sense to those of us who know Tall Josh, but the better part (yes the same 'better part' previously mentioned) is that K is now saying it. K has never met Tall Josh. Also we said it a lot last weekend around many many other people who also have NO idea who Tall Josh is, one of whom even promised to spread the expression around Guelph on our behalf. We said it so much and with such conviction that it ceased being something anyone questioned.

My dream for this saying? That some random person at hillside overheard us saying it and thought it was funny, or weird, or just that it miraculously sounded normal to them, and then they start saying it in their everyday life... then one day I hear a total stranger say it on the street and the circle is complete...

So help Tall Josh attain the fame he so richly deserves, spread the word, 'Sweatin' Like Tall Josh' is the new pink.
