Lyrical

To my elder and younger,

Over the past few weeks every time I listen to the radio, and yes i know the station is renowned for "top 40" kinda stuff, this one song gets in my head. Last night I heard the song again and decided to figure out what the lyrics were actually saying. Being as it was radio and the volume was iffy all I got out of it was bits of the chorus.

But that was enough to be able to look it up on youtube. The group is call Foster The People and the song is Pumped Up Kicks. The lyrics are really weird! Now I know music videos are not always visualizations of the song lyrics, but I found this video did not illustrate the lyrics at all. It was one of those blase videos of a band standing around signing and maybe shots of them walking around.

Now that I have read the lyrics I think it is odd and very Columbine-esq in it's meaning, I am not sure if I can enjoy it as much. Although I'm sure the next time I hear it on the radio I will forget the exact lyrics anyways and whistle along. Yes this song has whistling!

Anyways, check out the song. Tell me what you think.

  1. I totally have that song on my whistling playlist, and I have to admit I too never figured out the lyrics- it is pretty, well, pretty disturbing! Especially as the lyircs are fairly ambiguous as to the situation they're describing... interesting find A! PS If you like that song you might want to check out MGMT, they've got kind of a similar sound!
